From WWire:

Just heard word from the "man" himself.

Jammin 95.5's "The Playhouse" is moving to 107.5 , so says P.K. , ringleader for the popular morning drive-time show that's last day at at their flagship station will be Monday, May 12.

Speaking exclusively to WW, P.K. says the plan is to simulcast Monday's show (which will continue with the same cast and crazy antics) on both stations from 5 am to 9 am.

At 9 am Jammin' will go all sports and The Playhouse will continue on 107.5.

Lynn adds: Look in the comments and you'll see the official press release.

KVMX CHANGES TO JAMMIN’ 107.5 KXJM
Hip Hop Lives On in Portland with PK’s Playhouse in Morning Drive

(Portland, Oregon) … KVMX 107.5 FM has announced the Portland station will change format direction and become the new “Jammin’ 107.5, Hits & Hip Hop.” The change is effective immediately.
The station acquired the intellectual property of “Jammin’ 95.5”, the call letters KXJM, and PK’s Playhouse morning show from Rose City Radio in a recent transaction. Rose City Radio announced last week it will shift 95.5’s programming to all sports as “95.5 The Game” on May 12. Call letters of both stations will change pending FCC approval. The station’s current website will also migrate over at www.jamminfm.com where the station will continue to stream live.
“This is a rare opportunity for CBS RADIO Portland to acquire the well established, successful Jammin’ brand as well as a morning show that is consistently top-rated in the Portland market,” commented CBS RADIO Portland SVP, Dave McDonald. “And, we have the luxury of informing current KXJM listeners of the switch via KXJM and KVMX airwaves for the next several days which is really unprecedented in the world of radio.”
Rose City Radio President Tim McNamara said, “We’re obviously very pleased that “Jammin’” and the Playhouse will continue on in Portland. While we’re excited about our new direction, we’re thrilled Jammin’ will continue serving the community and stay a top-rated station at in the market.”

Hear Rick Emerson and some of the others on CBS regularly talking smack about The Playhouse (even one day, on-air, hinting about the rumors of a flip at Rose City Radio and what it would be like to see The Playhouse unemployed) . . .

Should make for an interesting Christmas party . . . :)

Good Lord I love radio

So saying I that I’ve listened to PK and the Playhouse isn’t true. But what I saw on television wasn’t impressive. When I was a kid, I listened to Craig Walker, Thomas and Ross and Z100. I don’t recall much from those days, but I wouldn’t use the word crude to describe the humor of those programs. The Playhouse is crude and not very funny. With that said, I did enjoy listening to Howard Stern when he was syndicated on KUFO. Now I know you’re going to call me a hypocrite, but there was something about the depth of Howard Stern’s crudeness versus that of the Playhouse. It might be age (I’m almost 40), but I just can’t imagine being a parent and approving of my kid listening to the Playhouse. I don’t have children, so I’m safe, but man, I would be mortified.

I used to watch this show on cable access and it was by the far the worst shock jock wannabe crap I've seen in some time. The host was an obnoxious loudmouth and his cohorts were anything but entertaining.

I say, move em to some city like St. Louis or Texarkana where they might fit in. I don't see the Portland connection here.

I've never heard of a station selling a show and a station's branding like this to another non-affiliated station. Nice to see KXL FM not just sticking it to its listeners.
Is anybody going to pick up "Movin' FM"?

And I think the Rome show is going to do well on FM. Between the buffers and the promos, a lot of sports shows can sound exponentially better on FM.

I like the playhouse and hip hop music; however, I like to take a brake and listen to other music like MoVin 107.5 FM used to have, now where do I go to hear old school and new school? I guess 97.1 Charlie FM. Oh well I'm kool wit it. Vancouver,Wa.

Portland Restaurant Closes Doors

Portland, Ore. — May 12, 2008 — Mark Lindsay’s Rock & Roll Café opened in July 2007. The ’60s music-themed café closed today due to deteriorating economic conditions.
“When this restaurant was conceived, the economy was in good shape,” explain owners of the Café. “But by the time it opened, the nation was experiencing an economic slowdown, impacting the ability for this restaurant to operate profitably.”
The restaurant closed with no plans to re-open.

RRCafe was terrible, people come to see the history the first time...good food brings them back. No wonder no one went back.

and thought that the price was high for the quality of food I got. I didn't think, at the time, that I would return for the food. Now I guess I don't have to even consider going back there.

The Playhouse radio show is a disgusting piece of crap. Using crudeness and juvenile pranks as a substitute for comedy, this so-called radio show is completely annoying, stupid and boring.
And then there is the lovely "PK". Obviously wanting to be Portland's very own Howard Stern and failing miserably, PK comes across as a loudmouthed small-time loser. The other Playhouse regulars are just as disgusting- especially the rather sad and annoying Scooter character.
This show reflects what is so wrong with modern society. We have become a people that tolerate low-brow "entertainment" and crude, immature behavior. Pandering to the lowest common denominator seems to be where current radio and TV programming has ended up.

I agree with everything you just said, I also think that the short-sightedness on CBS's part will become clear as time goes on. The format was failing at 95. So let's put it on our failing 107!

If you look at the advertising revenue generated by the format, there is only so much zit cream and dating websites you can sell.

P.K. is no B.F.D.

Portland is always ten years behind the times. Hip hop peaked ten years ago. What does that tell you?

Peace out, Homies.

I'm so glad to hear that others can't stand the Playhouse radio show. PK is a LOUD month and very rude. He makes me sick. I can't believe he is employed and put on the air. Yikes. Now I will have to reprogram my radio stations. Who in there right mind would put him on air?

Mr. Dummy scooter is not on the show any more. Keep up with the show before you blow off your mud hole.

The clarity of the shows on FM is fantastic, Jim Rome is suddenly more appealing. Beats the heck outta 1080. Very happy to have a local morning sports show again as well.

Listened to Kenny Vance and Katy this morning, and it was better than I expected. I like Vance better than the afternoon 1080 guys, doesn't come across as pretentious. Is more natural and, much to my surprise, the chemistry between the two is enjoyable.

Still not sure what to think of Canzano's BFT, though..not super impressed thus far, but I'll give it a week or two before I tune out. Although, it still better than 1080.

I do miss Movin' 107.5 for music. I hope it, or something else similar other than 97.1 surfaces somewhere on my FM dial.

A local sports radio consumer..

I really enjoyed my drive to work listening to actual music, not some idiots being crude and stupid, they don't know what humor even is!! I was very upset when I turned on the radio and heard those horrible voices,I turned it instantly and will never turn it back until they go away! You wrecked movin!!!

Week two and they're already fantasizing about LeBron James coming to Portland and what they're going to watch on TV Monday night besides the NBA... K&K have got to do better than that kind of stuff to compete with Cowherd. They're not going to get better guests than Cowherd so they're going to have jack up what they talk about.
I wish the duo well, I really do, but I'm surprised someone hasn't tried to merge "shock talk" with "sports talk" in the morning with a young host who is expendable if and when it goes horribly wrong.

Jammin is a worthless radio station. It shouldn't have replaced a station that offered real music. I am disappointed with the change and would never listen to the loud-mouthed morning playhouse crew. They are ridiculous and need to get real jobs.
